“I For My Country” Project
እኔ ለሀገሬ ፕሮጀክት
A flagship civic education initiative equipping Grade 11-12 students with leadership, peacebuilding, and civic skills.
“I For My Country” is a flagship youth empowerment initiative designed to equip Ethiopian public high school students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become responsible, compassionate, and active citizens. The project primarily targets Grade 11 and Grade 12 students, preparing them to become positive leaders and changemakers within their schools, communities, and the nation.
The program delivers a comprehensive learning experience through interactive training sessions, community service initiatives, and experience-sharing forums. It integrates the internationally recognized Positive Peace framework with practical themes that are highly relevant to today's youth, including volunteerism, youth social entrepreneurship, ethical media literacy, and the positive and responsible use of social media platforms.
By combining these interconnected areas, the project encourages students to develop critical thinking, civic responsibility, leadership, innovation, and a strong sense of national ownership. Participants are empowered not only to identify challenges within their communities but also to take meaningful action in addressing them through collaboration and service.
Prior to the official registration of Mahtot for Future Generations, the initiative was successfully implemented in partnership with international humanitarian organizations, reaching and training more than 200 public high school students. The positive outcomes demonstrated the project's potential to inspire youth leadership and community engagement.
Building on this successful foundation, Mahtot for Future Generations is now committed to expanding the project's reach and impact by partnering with schools, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and the private sector. Through strategic collaboration, the organization aims to scale the initiative nationally and empower thousands of Ethiopian youth to become ethical leaders, peacebuilders, innovators, and responsible citizens who contribute to a more peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Ethiopia.
